Kineto a gemini proxy

Sourced from Drew DeVault's gemini capsule (which has since been removed). This is an attempt to archive this content on the web.

NOTE: Only relative links to static assets with extensions (jpg, webm, png) have been converted to git.sr.ht download URLs. The rest are left as-is. If you see a link pointing to this same hostname in the content, they will return 404.

Just a quick new software announcement: Kineto, an HTTP to Gemini proxy, is now available.

It's designed to service a single domain, so that you can, for example, make your Gemini site available over HTTP. It supports proxying to external domains, so that outgoing Gemini links work, but it serves the domain it's configured for by default.

More info about Kineto is available here:

Kineto: an HTTP to Gemini proxy

And a live demo is available to access my Geminispace over HTTP:

https://portal.drewdevault.com

It's named after the Contraves-Goerz Kineto Tracking Mount, which is a device used by NASA to watch rockets as they ascend to orbit.
